Q8: The North Side of Down – Chapter 7

This chapter describes the frustration and pain that comes from a series of misdiagnosis and failed doctor visits.

As a caregiver, have you experienced anything like this? Do you have access to specialists in your area?

As her father’s health continues to decline, Nancy gets the courage to ask him about the plans for Amanda’s future. He tells her that he wants Nancy to care for her “If you’ll have her,” but explains that there are papers stating otherwise: “It names Theil as her guardian.”

This passage gets at the importance of having, and updating, documentation of your wishes for your adult child.

Do you have a “Letter of Intent” or another type of document prepared? If so, where do you keep it and do other family members know where to find it?
