Q14: Writing With Grace

Q 17.  McFarlane talks about attending the Canadian Down Syndrome Conference in 2011. In a session moderated by Gail Williamson (the disability community’s top talent agent) she meets Gail’s son Blair and Lauren Potter, two actors who have Down syndrome.  The two tell stories of being bullied as children. McFarlane acknowledges the depth of the pain that was inflicted on them.

“…the success of these two young people, as remarkable as it is, will never erase the hurt they have suffered.” P. 111

Does your loved one suffer from the lasting effects of bullying? Has the treatment of your child affected you personally?
