I am especially interested with Rodney, the 28 year old young man who has Down's Syndrome. He is a pivotal character. The author must have some experience with adults with DS, since the character is authentic from my experience as a parent. Recommended.
I thoroughly enjoyed this sweet and poignant tale of two farmers looking for love at an older age. And Rodney, the young man with Down syndrome, was created with so much insight and care that I could virtually see him and feel his struggles, his kindness, his joy.
Jean Rosenow has created a rural world I wanted to live in, even though I have no desire to raise cattle or pigs or make jam for the county fair. I wanted to meet these people. I wanted to tell Emma she was beautiful and a good sister. I wanted to pal around with Rodney and play with his puppies.
If you want to escape to a wonderfully realized world with some kind-hearted folks for a while, you couldn't travel to a better destination.
