This collection of sixteen short essays captures significant moments Sharon Randall has experienced in raising her son, Davis, who has Down syndrome. The essays span the time of diagnosis, to his current age of sixteen. Sharon's writing has been called thoughtful, down-to-earth, insightful and beautifully simple. She acknowledges the challenges of raising a child with special needs, but points the readers towards the joy that can be found on the journey.
Tracey DeLano on Amazon wrote:I could not put this book down and read it cover to cover once it arrived in one sitting. Sharon writes honestly and with her whole heart about her journey with her incredible son Davis. It is a must read for parents of Down Syndrome kids, friends who have friends with Down kids and I would say anyone with a compassionate heart and a desire to learn more. I think that all parents can appreciate the lessons and experiences that are contained in this gem of a book. I will be buying more copies for my friends as this is a story that must be shared.
As an integrated kindergarten teacher I know many people who have had similar experiences to Sharon. She eloquently describes her feelings and takes us on a journey as she navigates through this new world. This book would surely help other parents know that they are not alone in how they feel.
