Ulla Bondo
The birth of a mentally handicapped child is a shock in any family; this book is an honest appraisal of the delights and difficulties experienced by the Danish author, Ulla Bondo, with her daughter Ida who was raised at home. The tensions created within the family, Ida's carefully considered schooling and her progress are all charted. The fruits of such tireless care and the development of Ida's resources will be encouraging to many parents and others involved in the care of the mentally handicapped. Of equal interest will be the developmental tables and the informed prefaces by two pediatricians, Dr. J. Oster of Denmark and Dr. D. G. Stone of the United Kingdom.
